Nurture Plant Displays cleaned up at the prestigious 2024 Plants at Work Awards at London Excel
30 October 2024
After winning two Gold Leaf awards for our Christmas displays for clients McCann and UBS, we struck gold again in the Design and Installation category of our amazing plant displays at Boston Consulting Group’s new offices in Canary Wharf.
Winning three Gold ‘Leaf Awards’ for our innovative interior plant displays.
The awards, which are celebrating their 20th anniversary, recognise design and innovation with workplace interior plant displays and are rigorously judged. Each of the shortlisted projects showcases exceptional project design, installation and service.
Nurture Plant Displays has been successful in previous years and entered three awards this year, winning Gold for all three projects – an amazing achievement from our team, showing their creativity, dedication and expertise.
Après Ski Christmas Display for McCann
Après Ski was the theme chosen for this year’s award-winning Christmas display for McCann, the global advertising giant. Curated by our lead designer Joanna Mariott, the display evolved from drawing concepts to reality using a mix of individually sourced products and bespoke items handmade by the Nurture team.
A reused igloo was used as the centrepiece, complemented with handmade ski bar and holiday signage, along with snowballs and ski-lift motifs, wooden logs, flocked garland, wooden sleds and zip up stars. To help with installation the challenging igloo construction was pre-assembled at our office and transported to site.
After being delighted with our display the previous year, the client had enough faith in the team to give us free reign to create the display and was equally thrilled with the result. The interactive nature of the display made it photogenic and social media friendly, aiding a party atmosphere.
Traditional Twist Christmas display for UBS
UBS, the multinational investment bank and financial services company, wanted a creative Christmas display for their London office that was warmer in feel to previous years and tied into their red corporate branding.
This was also the first festive season that staff from Credit Suisse were going to be in the building, so it was important to show them a warm welcome through an uplifting and joyous festive environment.
Joanna Marriott, our lead designer, worked closely with the client to craft an innovative display that met the brief. Zig Zag trees where painted green and complemented with warm natural decorations, along with paper amaryllis flowers. The addition of giant wreaths featuring huge velvet bows added to the warm natural feel.
Handmade hanging decorations were very effective in the open space, whilst giant wreaths and wicker animals helped to infuse a traditional, warm and natural feel.
The materials and plants chosen also reflected the desire for a traditional theme with a modern twist. Live trees complemented by a multitude of elements went to create a sumptuous design including wreathes on stands, fishbowl and glass tabletop decorations, wicker reindeer, preserved moss and a UBS branded 3D logo.
Design and Installation Award for BCG
In the Design and Installation category, Nurture was awarded a gold leaf award for its project with Boston Consulting Group (BCG). We were given just a few weeks to design a planting scheme for the client’s new headquarters in Canary Wharf, which required us to produce a fast turnaround of bespoke items on a limited budget.
We carefully selected plants to suit the beautiful architecture of building and varied lighting in different zones, whilst also achieving a cohesive overall look and feel. The team including lead designer Robyn Fredenham worked hard to tailor a solution that delighted the client.
A lush impactful planting scheme was created for the main reception complementing the client’s brand colour of dark teal. The design incorporated two large corner beds featuring plants that work well in the lower light levels, such as Philodendron congo, which also added a splash of red colour and a rich luxurious touch.
In contrast, an event space surrounded by glass windows offered fantastic natural light. Here joinery pieces for planting were incorporated, consisting of kidney shaped beds with seating, and three columns with integrated troughs 2.5m high designed for planting to spill over and create a lush appearance at high level. These were planted with live plants using hydroculture to allow for fewer watering visits. Chlorophytum and lime greens of Asplenium were included here with a splash of the red leaf planting to bring it all together.
Working with a limited budget, we delighted the client with planting that delivered a luxurious high-end feel with an element of fun, suiting their new offices.
