Grounds Maintenance Company of the Year

As a national provider of green services, Nurture Landscapes continues to lead the way in sustainable operations. With validated Science Based Targets (42% carbon reduction by 2030 and 90% by 2040), we have transitioned our fleet and tools to electric, investing in renewable energy, and embedding sustainable practices throughout its contracts.

Nurture’s work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with direct contributions to climate action, sustainable communities, life on land, and responsible consumption.

Our sustainable awards history includes over 70 Green Flag and Green Apple awards, the Wildlife Trusts’ Biodiversity Benchmark, and recognition for biodiversity-focused maintenance at flagship sites such as Stockley Park and Chineham Park.

Maintenance Contract of the Year – Chiswick Park

For over 15 years, Nurture Landscapes has partnered with Chiswick Park Enjoy-Work, a 33-acre business destination in London, to deliver a biodiversity-led grounds maintenance strategy. The site showcases how commercial landscapes can act as platforms for sustainability, education, and community engagement.

Key initiatives include:

  • Transitioning more than 80% of handheld equipment to electric, powered on-site by solar and mains energy
  • Installation of bee hives supporting pollination within a one-mile radius and producing honey each year
  • Creation of diverse habitats such as bird and bat boxes, a wildlife pond, a stumpery, and a giant bug hotel
  • A 100,000-strong wormery processing one tonne of food waste daily, alongside large-scale composting bays recycling 100% of green waste
  • Rainwater harvesting to sustain the lake and waterfall system, reducing reliance on mains water

This long-standing contract demonstrates measurable environmental impact, innovative practices, and deep alignment with ESG principles, positioning Chiswick Park as one of London’s most sustainable business destinations.

Commercial Build Over £500k – Bradford City Centre

Gavin Jones was recognised for its role in the Bradford City Centre regeneration project, which transformed 1.6km of traffic-dominated infrastructure into over three hectares of vibrant parkland. The scheme delivered a 24% biodiversity net gain and increased city centre footfall by 25%.

Highlights include:

  • Planting 198 climate-resilient trees and over 25,000 herbaceous plants
  • Installing 3,100m² of wildflower turf and pollinator-friendly species
  • Integrating innovative SuDS features and passive irrigation systems to manage stormwater naturally
  • Creating engineered tree pits to enable large-canopy trees to thrive in challenging urban conditions

This flagship project exemplifies nature-based solutions in urban regeneration, delivering ecological, social, and climate benefits in a live city centre environment. It has set a new benchmark for sustainable, people-first placemaking in the UK.

Leading the industry with sustainability and biodiversity

Together, these three awards reflect the strength of Nurture Group’s ESG strategy and its delivery on the ground. By combining innovation, long-term partnerships, and measurable results, Nurture are demonstrating how the landscaping industry can drive positive change for communities, clients, and the environment. Peter Fane, Executive Chairman of Nurture Group, said:

“This recognition across three categories shows the breadth of our commitment to sustainability, biodiversity, and excellence in delivery. From long-term maintenance contracts to complex urban regeneration, our teams are proving that landscaping is central to building a greener future.”
