Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when there is snow forecasted?

Prior to any forecasted snow event, we contact all clients that could be affected. This is usually a few days in advance and becomes more geographically specific as the snow event gets closer. This gives clients the ability to proactively plan what they would like to do with their own staff and business.

When snow does arrive (this generally needs to be 4-5cm of laying snow) and snow clearance is required, an email requesting snow clearance needs to be sent to out Central Control team, and we will deploy snow clearance vehicles directly to the site.

How quickly can you respond to heavy snowfall?

Our 24/7 Job Control Helpdesk allows us to mobilise teams rapidly. We use dedicated local crews with site-specific plans to ensure fast, efficient snow clearing, even during peak demand or unexpected snow events.

Can snow clearance be arranged in advance?

Yes. Snow clearance can be pre-booked for high-risk sites or during periods of extended snowfall forecasts. This ensures your site is prioritised, with equipment and crews allocated before the snow arrives.

What types of snow management services do you offer?

We provide cover everything from manual snow removal in confined areas to mechanical snow ploughing for larger spaces. Our snow clearing services keep car parks, access roads, walkways, and loading bays safe and accessible.

Do you offer snow clearance services alongside gritting?

Absolutely. Many clients choose to combine snow clearance with our winter gritting services for complete snow and ice management. This ensures safety and accessibility before, during, and after winter weather.

Can you handle multi site snow management contracts?

Yes. As one of the UK’s most experienced winter maintenance providers, we offer commercial snow removal services for single or multi-site portfolios nationwide, backed by over 90 depots and 750+ specialist vehicles.

How is snow clearance managed?

We offer two types of snow clearance:

  • Manual snow clearance (triggered at 2cm+) for entrances, paths, staircases, fire exits and pedestrian areas.
  • Mechanical snow clearance (triggered at 5cm+) using ploughs or specialist equipment to clear roads, car parks and access routes.

Clearance is typically by request, although arrangements can be made for proactive scheduling during forecasted heavy snow events.

What happens to the snow that’s cleared?

Snow is pushed to designated areas such as soft landscaping or low-use car park sections.

We ensure:

  • Visibility remains accessible for vehicles and pedestrians
  • Access to signage and building numbers is maintained
  • Drains are not blocked by cleared snow
  • Emergency routes are preserved

After clearance, heavy salting is applied to treat remaining slush or ice.

How do you ensure raised areas are treated properly?

Elevated surfaces like mezzanine decks or top-floor car parks may freeze earlier than ground-level areas. We provide site-specific forecasts for these zones and recommend the use of low-corrosive salt to safeguard infrastructure.

How do I know my snow clearance has been completed?

All snow clearance services are documented with time-stamped job sheets and GPS tracking. Records are accessible via our Ice Master portal, giving you a clear, auditable record of every visit.

What sectors do you provide snow clearing services for?

We work with retail parks, logistics hubs, education sites, healthcare estates, local authorities, defence and government facilities, housing developments, heritage sites, and more.
