Our Commitment to Responsible Impact and Sustainable Growth

The Nurture Group recognises that its business does not exist in isolation. Our services and the manner in which we deliver them also has an impact on the environment and the communities in which we work in, and as a company we seek to understand our business’ impact on the wider world and consider how we can use this impact in a positive way by taking a responsible attitude and actions.

We have a clear ESG framework, from which we develop and deliver our plans, strategies, targets, and commitments. We use this framework to ensure we challenge ourselves; we recognise all that we do, and that we engage our colleagues and our customers in our passion for everything ESG.

Environmental excellence

In the modern world, to avoid the depletion of natural resources and maintain an ecological balance, we as individuals, and as a business, all have a commitment to help in its preservation to ensure environmental resources will be protected and maintained for our future generations.

We are proud to be carbon neutral in accordance with the global PAS 2060 standard with a vision to be net zero by 2030, and are ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 accredited.

We are platinum members of the Green Organisation and constantly review our operations to ensure clients benefit from environmental initiatives to reduce carbon and improve energy efficiency,  working closely with clients and suppliers to identify materials and techniques that minimise environmental impact.

Solar panels have been installed at our head office and sixty percent of our company management cars have been replaced with fully electric / hybrid / or hybrid electric vehicles and electric charging points have been installed at all main offices.

We are replacing existing fossil fuel machinery with new fully electric handheld machinery, such as rechargeable hedge cutters and strimmers, and we plan to increase this each year. This has helped to reduce carbon emissions and the savings generated are ring-fenced each year and reinvested in additional battery powered equipment.

Social sharing and engagement

As a business and as individuals, we are dedicated to supporting our people, our clients, and the communities where we live and work.

As a Real Living Wage employer, we’re committed to fair pay and meaningful work. Through our apprenticeship programs, we open doors for new talent in horticulture, providing hands-on experience and career growth opportunities.

Engaging and empowering our team is woven into our culture, from a strong focus on wellbeing and training to a diverse calendar of initiatives and incentives that recognize and support every member.

Our passion for what we do extends into the community, where we host educational events at client sites to inform, inspire, and engage young people about the green industry. We believe in leading by example and showing future generations the positive impact we can make together.

To further this mission, we established an ESG Fund to drive local projects that benefit our communities. Working closely with clients and colleagues, we support causes close to their hearts, creating meaningful change and strengthening the communities we serve.

This commitment to positive impact – in our workplaces, client relationships, and communities – is at the core of everything we do.

Upholding robust governance across the group

As a business it is important that we act responsibly and our business practices are robust and our reporting accurate.

This forms part of our compliance strategy, alongside our commitment to Health & Safety. We conduct regular business briefs to ensure employees are kept informed and appropriate training is given through our directly employed and dedicated compliance and training team, to ensure we comply and manage the health and safety of our people, our clients and our stakeholders– ‘Home Safe Everyday’.

One of the key-focuses within the Governance element of ESG is supply chain management. We review and update our commitments and ways of working with regards to our suppliers and business partners, driving better solutions, effectiveness, and efficiencies, with sustainability and customer service at the heart of this process.

This enables smarter, more effective and efficient ways of working, as well as better service delivery through our new systems for our customers and full and complete control over our data management.
