Gavin Jones: Soft Landscaping Construction – Natural History Museum The Urban Nature Project is one of the most ambitious landscape transformations in recent years, reimagining the grounds of the Natural History Museum into a space that promotes biodiversity, education, and accessibility. Gavin Jones delivered the soft landscaping package, overcoming highly complex site challenges while ensuring the highest standards of delivery. The judges praised the project as: “A site which was uniquely challenging, which has been executed by the contractor to an excellent standard throughout. It is evident for all to see Gavin Jones rose to this challenge and accomplished the design intent with resounding success. The resultant scheme is a testament to the skills, dedication and commitment of all those involved which has created unique immersive galleries inspiring existing and new generations to come. A superb scheme executed to an exceptional standard.” Key elements included working around sensitive sensors and data collection devices, handling rare and unusual plant stock, and ensuring delicate pond ecosystems were preserved. The result is an immersive landscape that doubles as a living laboratory, inspiring future generations while advancing global understanding of nature recovery and resilience. The project embraced the principles of biophilic design, creating a series of vibrant, multi-themed interior spaces that connect employees and visitors with nature while enhancing wellbeing in the workplace. From concept through to flawless installation, the scheme demonstrated the creativity, technical knowledge, and craftsmanship of Nurture’s interior plant displays team. Their ability to integrate living design into a corporate environment not only met the client’s aspirations but also delivered a striking outcome that sets a new benchmark for office planting. The judges commented: “A well researched and sourced collection of containers and appropriate planting to meet the demands of a very exacting client.” This award reflects the strength of the client partnership and the ability to tailor maintenance services to complex requirements while ensuring sites remain vibrant, sustainable, and representative of the client’s dual brand being united under one roof.
