Nurture landscapes group completes first acquisition of 2023 with Beaumont Landscapes in the North East.
26 January 2023
National green services provider, Nurture Landscapes Group, has completed its seventh acquisition of its financial year with the purchase completed on 4th January of County Durham landscaping specialist, Beaumont Landscapes. This follows hot on the heels of six other successful deals completed throughout 2022.
This latest northern eastern acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, reinforces Nurture’s grounds maintenance and winter gritting operations in the region, enabling the group to consolidate and relocate its other operations in the locality at Beaumont’s existing Newton Aycliffe site.
Beaumont Landscapes was established by Steve Lineton in 1965, providing landscaping and ground maintenance services alongside an existing garden centre business on Beaumont Hill in Darlington. The business was eventually taken over by his son Mark who grew the business steadily until his retirement in 2021 when siblings Alex and Sophie, the managing director, bought his shareholding and prepared it for a trade sale.
The business, which reached sales of just under a million pounds, serves around 150 clients across 200 site locations. Augmenting its grounds maintenance offering is an expanding winter gritting service, with more than 50 sites in and around Newton Aycliffe and Darlington. With the majority of its clients being commercial, the business has established an excellent reputation within both the facilities management and education sectors.
Nurture’s acquisition of Beaumont enables it to close its depot at Lingfield point and relocate its north east grounds maintenance team, currently based at its hub in Durham, to Newton Aycliffe, with the hub continuing as a dedicated landscape construction operation.
Sophie Lineton, the founder’s granddaughter and its current managing director, along with five other members of the Lineton family, will join Nurture as part of the acquisition.
Nurture Landscapes Group, headquartered in Windlesham, Surrey, was founded in 2008 by Peter Fane who comes from a long family line of horticulture specialists. Since then, Nurture, a living wage employer with a strong pedigree of environmental responsibility and practice, has emerged into one of the largest and most successful green services businesses in the UK, with sales predicted this year to hit in excess of £140m. Now employing almost 2 000 people, the multi-award winning group, which includes Royal Warrant businesses Gavin Jones and nationwide pest control specialists Rokill, has incorporated within it a wide range of successful independent local landscaping and green service businesses creating a vast service network across mainland UK.
Commenting on the Beaumont acquisition, the first of 2023, Peter Fane, the executive chairman, said: “Bringing Beaumont Landscapes into The Nurture Landscapes Group is an exciting step for us. Both of us share similarly strong family values and brilliant client relationships, which makes us a great fit, enhancing the group’s strong focus on people and the environment. I am really looking forward to working with Sophie, her family, and the Beaumont team in continuing to deliver outstanding quality and service to our respective client bases.”
