News Nurture Group partners with Race Ahead Training to support SMEs through Apprenticeship Levy transfers Date: 8th August 2025 Share: At Nurture Group, we believe in the power of apprenticeships to transform lives, create opportunities, and build a future where everyone has access to the skills they need to succeed. That’s why we are proud to announce a new collaboration with Race Ahead Training, aimed at extending the reach of our Apprenticeship Levy to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the UK. Through this partnership, Nurture Group will be transferring a portion of its Apprenticeship Levy funds to help SMEs – who may otherwise struggle to access high-quality apprenticeship programmes – develop their workforce and invest in the future of their business. Investing in people, supporting growth The Apprenticeship Levy, introduced by the UK government, was designed to encourage larger organisations to invest in apprenticeships. However, not all businesses have the resources to benefit fully from such initiatives. By transferring unused Levy funds to smaller employers, we are helping bridge that gap – ensuring businesses of all sizes can provide their teams with the skills, training, and qualifications they need to thrive. Gina Wise, Learning and Development Manager at Nurture Group, commented: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting SMEs through our Apprenticeship Levy transfer. At Nurture, we understand that investing in people is not just good business – it’s a social responsibility. By enabling smaller businesses to access high-quality apprenticeships, we’re helping to create real social mobility, opening doors for individuals who might not otherwise have the chance to learn, grow, and build a better future for themselves and their families.” This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable skills development, not only within our own workforce but across the wider business community. Together with Race Ahead Training, we aim to empower individuals and businesses alike, creating pathways to employment, improving economic status, and enhancing life prospects for many. Building careers through apprenticeships at Nurture Group At Nurture, our own Apprenticeship programme is a core part of how we nurture talent and develop future leaders. From day one, our apprentices embark on a journey that combines hands-on, real-world training with structured, evidence-based learning from some of the industry’s best training providers. Our programme is designed for those starting their career journey, as well as existing employees looking to upskill and progress. Apprentices learn from experienced mentors, gain practical experience, and earn a wage – all while working towards a recognised qualification. We believe apprenticeships are more than just training programmes. They are a platform for personal growth, professional development, and long-term career success. Every apprentice is supported by a network of colleagues and mentors who are committed to their success. Levy transfers: driving social mobility By transferring Levy funds, we are extending this philosophy beyond our own organisation. This initiative directly contributes to creating social mobility within the workforce – helping individuals into employment, enabling them to upskill, and providing them with the tools to improve their economic and life prospects. It’s about more than just filling skills gaps. It’s about giving people – regardless of background or circumstance – the opportunity to grow, develop, and achieve their aspirations. Michele Budgen, Business Development Manager at Race Ahead Training, said: “This partnership with Nurture Group exemplifies what Apprenticeship Levy transfers are all about: collaboration, opportunity, and community impact. Thanks to Nurture’s forward-thinking and generosity, more SMEs will now have access to high-quality training solutions that might have otherwise been out of reach. Together, we are investing in people and creating meaningful change across industries.” For SMEs looking to grow through apprenticeships, this initiative provides a unique opportunity to access fully funded, high-quality training programmes that build skills and support business growth. For larger employers, Nurture Group’s partnership with Race Ahead Training serves as an example of how Levy funds can be harnessed to support others, creating a ripple effect of positive change within the business community. If you’re an SME interested in accessing apprenticeship funding, or a larger employer considering a Levy transfer to support others, we encourage you to reach out to Race Ahead Training or the Nurture Group team to find out more.
