Aligning with climate science to drive meaningful change

We are proud to share that Nurture Landscapes Holdings Limited has received formal validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its science-based emissions reduction targets. This formal validation confirms our commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our entire value chain by 2050.

SBTi is a corporate climate action organisation that enables companies worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. They develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set GHG emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050.

This validation reflects our ambition to align with the latest climate science and contribute meaningfully to the global effort to limit warming to 1.5°C, the critical threshold identified by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

What has been validated

The SBTi has confirmed that our near-term and long-term targets meet the rigorous criteria of its Net-Zero Standard – the most robust and transparent framework for corporate climate ambition available.

Near-term targets (to be achieved by 2030):

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% from a 2023 baseline
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 42% over the same period

Long-term targets (to be achieved by 2040):

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% from a 2023 baseline
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% over the same period

Overall Net-Zero commitment:

  • Achieve net-zero GHG emissions across our value chain by 2050

These validated targets cover 100% of Nurture Group’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. To meet them, we must reduce emissions not only from our direct operations – including energy, water, and waste – but also from a wide range of indirect sources such as purchased goods and services, capital goods, business travel, employee commuting, and other upstream and downstream activities.

We will prioritise direct emissions reductions across our operations. Any remaining residual emissions will be neutralised in line with SBTi criteria before we reach net-zero.

Why it matters

The climate crisis demands urgent and sustained action. As the market leader in our sector, we recognise our responsibility to cut emissions – and to support our clients and partners in doing the same.

Our Net-Zero Pathway, is built on a foundation of direct emissions reductions in line with science. While we recognise the role that carbon removals and high-quality offsets can play in the broader climate effort, they will only be used to neutralise residual emissions after all feasible reductions have been achieved – as per SBTi requirements.

Taking action with integrity

Gareth Kirkwood, Chief Executive Officer of Nurture Group, commented:

“Having our Net-Zero targets validated by the SBTi is a proud and important milestone for everyone at Nurture. It demonstrates not only our commitment to reducing emissions in line with the latest climate science, but also our determination to lead with integrity and accountability.

“Sustainability is not a side project – it is central to the way we operate. From transitioning our fleet to lower-carbon alternatives, to engaging suppliers and investing in operational efficiency, we are embedding responsible practices across every part of our business.

“But this isn’t something we can achieve alone. The climate challenge demands urgent and collective action. We are committed to supporting our clients and partners in meeting their own goals, and we encourage everyone across our industry to align with science-based targets so that together, we can help create a greener, more resilient future.”

Nurture continues to actively invest in:

  • Fleet electrification and alternative fuels
  • Low-carbon procurement and supplier engagement
  • Data-led emissions tracking and reporting
  • Operational efficiency across all service lines

Our commitment to cutting emissions across both our direct operations and wider value chain not only strengthens our own path to Net-Zero, but also plays a vital role in helping our clients reduce their Scope 3 emissions. By integrating sustainable practices into the services we deliver, we are enabling our clients to meet their own environmental targets, enhance their ESG performance, and progress confidently toward a low-carbon future.
