News New community spaces opened at Swanscombe Park Date: 27th April 2022 Share: Three new community spaces were opened at Swanscombe Park, including a Community Garden and Community Picnic Area as well as a Community Orchard. Trees were planted in the community Orchard in dedication to both Bryan Read and Captain Sir Tom Moore, as well as being sponsored by local people and businesses. Gavin Jones and Nurture Landscapes both sponsored fruit trees for the orchard. Tina Matthews from the Plant Displays division at Nurture (pictured right) and Scott Painter, Contracts Manager at Gavin Jones (pictured left) both attended the opening which took place on April 22nd 2022 which was also Earth Day. The Mayor of Swanscombe and Greenhithe, Councillor Lesley Howes (pictured centre) cut the ribbon on the Community Garden and Community Picnic Area with former Town Councillor, Mrs Ivy Read cutting the ribbon on the Community Orchard which contains a tree dedicated to her husband former Town Councillor and Town Mayor the late Bryan Read.
