The awards ceremony took place at the Royal Horseguards, London on Monday 15th November 2021. The Green Apple Awards, which have been running since 1994, and have become established as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities and countries, are selected by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit environment group which promotes and rewards positive environmental measures. The first award received was the Bronze Level Green Apple for Best Practice Building & Construction, in partnership with our client leading global real estate advisor Avison Young, for the installation of eight beehives at office block rooftops around Manchester, which became known as Project Urban Bees. 100% of money raised from the sales of the bees’ honey, bottled by Nurture, are given back to local charities within the city. We were then thrilled to receive the Gold Level Green Apple Award for Best Practice Service Champion, for our individual entry which incorporates all aspects of our sustainability measures, ranging from corporate recycling through to the use of electric and battery-powered equipment. Finally, in partnership with commercial property management specialists Mapp, Nurture received a Gold Level Green Apple which was selected to be the much coveted Champion of Champions Award winner as a tribute to the sustainability practices implemented at numerous Mapp sites across their Orchard Street Investements portfolio. This included the planting of more than 200 bulbs within wildflower areas, new bird boxes, and insect habitats. Both organisations also took part in the No Mow May initiative earlier this year, which aimed to encourage biodiversity within wild grass areas. Congratulations to all our clients that entered the awards and all the worthy winners.
