Nurture Landscapes is proud to be part of the team helping staff at Toyota GB’s Eco-HQ in Surrey to work with nature – something we ourselves are hugely passionate about. Together with a team from the Kew Royal Botanical Gardens, Surrey Wildlife Trust and environmental contractors Conservation and Access, our specialists have worked alongside Toyota to implement a variety of measures with the aim to make the company greener. And we don’t just mean electric cars – Toyota GB is setting up its own allotment, with the produce going into meals available for staff at the on-site café. The money raised from selling these will be going to the MND Association, Toyota GB’s corporate charity. Not only that, but old tyres are being recycled and reused, and pallets have been installed to encouraging staff to grow fruit and vegetables. Toyota GB has been at its Epsom site for some 20 years. In that time, native plant species have been introduced and ponds installed, making it a haven for biodiversity and a stunning backdrop for workers to admire as they go about their day. Walkways also enable them to get outside for some fresh air during their breaks, and take in the beauty of what has been created at their office. Interestingly, both Nurture Landscapes and Toyota GB have one particular activity in common – beekeeping. The Eco-HQ has a number of hives onsite, just as we have introduced at several of our sites across the country, with orchids just one of the many species of flower growing nearby for the resident bees to enjoy. The bees were first introduced in 2015 and Toyota GB’s resident beekeeper is kept busy taking care of them. On a serious note, encouraging businesses to be proactive when it comes to biodiversity and the environment is a responsibility that we at Nurture Landscapes believe is essential. To use the Eco-HQ as an example, the individual steps we all take have a collective outcome; whether that is bringing wildlife into the nearby greenspaces as Toyota GB has done or just being more aware of the effects daily business activities have on the planet, everyone has a role in improving biodiversity and the environment. Toyota GB has established a long-term partnership with the Kew Gardens and we’re delighted to have played a part in helping such a renowned global brand fulfil its environmental ambitions.
