Case study Hyde Group Share: Creating stress-free living for the Hyde group, with eco-friendly domestic pest control Hyde is an award-winning provider of affordable homes, with a mission to ensure its customers have safe, affordable, and comfortable homes. It owns and manages around 120,000 homes, making it one of the largest and most diverse housing and community services providers in the country. Hyde has recently partnered with Nurture Pest Control to help ensure its homes are safe and pest free. Meeting the needs of a growing property portfolio with integrated pest management With an increasing number of properties in its portfolio, Hyde re-evaluated its pest control needs in the South-East, where it has its largest concentration of homes. The company had previously subcontracted some pest control work but to improve efficiency wanted a provider that catered for all its needs under one roof. Pest problems are often urgent in nature and involve the safety of elderly and vulnerable persons, so a fast, reliable, and professional response was vital. Frank Mayne, Hyde’s Property Contracts Manager said: “Any kind of pest issue can be distressing for our customers, impacting their health and how they feel about their homes.” “That’s why we wanted to find an experienced pest management company, able to deliver a reliable and effective response to any type of pest activity across our homes. We also identified strong account management and accurate reporting as vital to help relieve time pressures on Hyde colleagues.” Amongst other factors, Hyde also wanted its supplier to provide expert advice, follow humane and sustainable methods, and provide long term protection for its homes through a range of house clearance, post infection cleaning and proofing services. Delivering effective and sustainable pest control solutions for Hyde’s needs Following an initial consultation, Nurture Pest Control submitted a proposal which was scored very highly against a number of criteria including quality, reliability, and social responsibility. The company was subsequently awarded a 5-year contract to provide pest control services, covering approximately 55,000 rental properties. Through its national call-centre the company provides access to a team of highly qualified pest technicians 365 days a year, who react quickly to any pest related issues. “We provide a comprehensive service giving communities peace of mind and helping people feel safe in their homes. When any pest related problem occurs, whether it be rodents, insects or birds, our experienced technicians respond quickly to remove any infestation through humane and eco-friendly methods. We also pro-actively reduce the risk of future problems through post infestation cleaning, pest proofing, and monitoring pest activity.” Rachel Brown, Key Account Manager for Nurture Pest Control explains”. The seamless transition to stress-free domestic pest control Prior to contract mobilisation, pre-start meetings were held, and Nurture provided recommendations to ensure a smooth transition from the incumbent supplier. These included: A TUPE agreement: Nurture transferred across to its employment four technicians and an administrator, who were familiar with Hyde’s requirements and brought with them valuable experience; Their in-depth knowledge of previous pest activity, property design and past control work across the estate helped to ensure a seamless transition and allowed preventative visits to be planned around sites most susceptible to pest activity. Detailed reporting: For each visit Nurture Pest Control provides a detailed report that documents the pest activity and measures taken, ensuring full transparency and improved decision making. The account manager also supports communication and continuous improvement, through regular meetings and reviews. Issue resolution: Frank Mayne feels very satisfied with the smooth transition to the Nurture Pest Control team. Communication and reporting standards have improved and there is confidence in Nurture’s ability to resolve any pest control issue across the portfolio. Monthly planned preventative: Visits are scheduled for over one hundred sites based on historical pest activity and risk profile. Additionally, Nurture provides disinfection, clearance, and pest proofing services to reduce the risk of future infestations. All of this is managed through Nurture’s directly employed team, with no need to outsource. 55,000 Number of Homes Protected 5 Year Contract Length 365 Day Rapid Response 365 days a year Humane Focus on humane, eco-friendly methods Making a difference to Hyde’s communities Both companies share an unwavering commitment to the highest environmental, social and governance principles, and Nurture is pleased to contribute to Hyde’s community support projects, helping to improve the lives of people in communities across the country. “Nurture Pest Control have provided a very seamless implementation and has served our needs perfectly.
