Chiswick Park - grounds maintenance and ESG support

Creating a thriving, sustainable workplace at Chiswick Park

Chiswick Park, located just off the M4 and within easy reach of Heathrow and central London, is one of the capital’s most desirable business destinations. Home to leading global brands and designed around the philosophy that people perform better when they enjoy their environment, the Park is more than a collection of office buildings – it’s a community.

For over a decade, Nurture Group has partnered with Enjoy-Work, the management company behind Chiswick Park, to deliver a wide range of services that place environmental responsibility and biodiversity at the heart of the workplace. Together, we have transformed the Park into a benchmark for ESG performance, winning multiple Green Flag Awards and the prestigious Green Apple Environmental Award every year since 2016.

What began in 2010 with the installation of a wormery has since evolved into a pioneering partnership that demonstrates how a corporate estate can successfully integrate sustainability, biodiversity, and wellbeing into everyday business life.

Supporting a bold ESG vision

From the outset, the relationship between Nurture and Chiswick Park has been built on shared values of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Key initiatives have included:

  • Wormery installation: Installed in 2010 and now upgraded to house over 100,000 worms, it processes up to 50kg of food waste daily, turning it into nutrient-rich compost for use across the Park.
  • Bug hotels, beehives, and mulch bays: Enhancing biodiversity and providing habitats for pollinators and invertebrates essential to the local ecosystem.
  • Kitchen gardens and education events: Helping tenants engage directly with food growing, sustainability, and the natural world.

These initiatives are not just add-ons; they are central to Chiswick Park’s formal ESG strategy, first introduced in 2020 with Nurture’s input and refined in 2022. The strategy sets ambitious goals, including achieving Net Zero Operational Carbon by 2026, proactive risk management, and meaningful contributions to the local community.

Delivering sustainability through expertise and collaboration

Nurture’s role at Chiswick Park extends well beyond grounds maintenance. We act as a trusted ESG partner, drawing on multi-disciplinary expertise to advise on strategy, deliver biodiversity initiatives, and ensure the site consistently exceeds best-practice sustainability standards.

Our approach includes:

  • Embedding circular economy principles: Recycling green waste through on-site mulch bays and the wormery to create natural fertiliser.
  • Sustainable operations: Transitioning to electric-powered vehicles and equipment to reduce emissions and noise pollution.
  • Supply chain responsibility: Working only with suppliers committed to sustainable sourcing, ensuring ESG principles are reflected throughout operations.
  • Knowledge sharing: Helping tenants, stakeholders, and the wider community understand ESG and biodiversity in practical, engaging ways.

This integrated approach means sustainability is not a single initiative but a shared commitment across all partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.

The impact: A workplace where people and nature thrive

Over 12 years of collaboration, Chiswick Park has become a leading example of how ESG principles can be embedded into the built environment.

The results include:

  • Recognition and awards: Multiple Green Flag Awards, Green Apple Environmental Awards, London in Bloom accolades, and BALI Awards underline the Park’s position as one of the UK’s most sustainable managed estates.
  • Enhanced biodiversity: From wildflower meadows to beehives, Chiswick Park now supports a richer and healthier ecosystem.
  • Tenant engagement and pride: Employees benefit from a workplace that champions wellbeing and sustainability, reinforcing Chiswick Park’s appeal as a business destination.
  • Clear path to Net Zero: With defined targets, transparent reporting, and Nurture’s continued support, the Park is on track to meet its ambitious carbon reduction goals by 2026.
