Nurture Pest Control's 3 Year Guarantee
Many companies offer a guarantee on the components and parts of their installations. However, our guarantee is different. We provide a 3 year guarantee that the bird proofing installation is effective against the specified species of bird.
Birdfree Optical Gel
This exciting new “Instant” Bird Repellent was only introduced to the UK during 2011, but is already in use worldwide by governments and major commercial companies and organisations as well as domestic users. In the UK current users include Local Authorities, NHS, Housing Associations, Restaurants, to name just a few. The product can be effective at deterring pest birds without harming them. The product is discreet and supplied in low profile, discreet plastic dishes that can be installed to the building.
Avian Laser Deterrent system
Laser technology is being used to deter pest bird species in numerous environments including manufacture, distribution, agriculture and aviation. The principle of repelling birds with a laser beam is inspired by nature. Birds perceive the approaching laser beam as a physical danger. It appeals to the survival instinct, causing the birds to fly away. The continuous presence of the moving laser beam keeps areas free of birds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The systems have been employed at sites where physical proofing may not be possible or is undesirable for aesthetic reasons. The installation of netting can be guaranteed to be 100% effective, laser systems have achieved impressive results of up to 90% on low to medium pressure sites. The use of laser technology is effective particularly when used as part of an integrated bird control program that may use other deterrent/control techniques.
The hardware
The unit is housed in an IP66 rated housing. The standard unit is mains powered, a solar powered option is available, the units benefit from low running costs, peak power consumption is 60W. The unit can be base mounted or installed using bespoke brackets. The unit is silent when operating.
The software
The unit is extremely flexible and our trained technicians configure the unit specifically for your site. The unit is adaptable with multiple combinations to create a safe, effective site specific deterrent programme, with up to 3,600 waypoints, up to 16 zones, various speed combinations and up to 3 time zones.
Health & Safety
The unit houses a class 3B laser, it produces a wide beam in the range 400-700nm. The unit is fitted with a tilt alarm, if the unit is interfered with or moved the unit shuts down. The system can only be installed by a qualified, trained technician.
Birds of Prey
Birds of prey, also known as raptors, are natural predators of many pest bird species. Utilising these hunters as a method of pest control is both environmentally friendly and highly effective. This technique leverages the predatory instincts of birds of prey to create an inhospitable environment for pest birds, encouraging them to relocate.
How Birds of Prey Deter Pest Birds
Natural Predation
Raptors such as falcons, hawks, and eagles are naturally equipped to hunt and deter pest birds. Their presence alone can instil fear in pest birds, causing them to avoid areas where they might be at risk of predation. This method is humane, as it relies on the natural behaviour of the birds rather than harmful chemicals or physical deterrents.
Visual and Auditory Cues
When birds of prey are flown regularly in an area, pest birds learn to associate that location with danger. The sight of a predator circling overhead and the sound of their calls are powerful deterrents that encourage pest birds to find safer, quieter habitats.
Health and Safety
Bird proofing often involves working at height. Our dedicated specialists are trained in:
- General working at height and on construction sites
- Scaffold awareness
- Operator training for hydraulic platforms (MEWP)
- Tower scaffold
- CSCS
Risk assessments and method statements are prepared at the survey stage. Nurture Pest Control is approved under the Altius, CHAS, Constructionline and Safecontractor schemes and has consecutively won the RoSPA Gold award for Occupational Health & Safety for over 10 years.
Cleaning after bird infestation
When a pigeon or bird infestation has been cleared there’s often debris, droppings and nesting materials left behind which are a potential health hazard. We provide a safe and effective cleaning service followed by treatment with bactericide to control disease carrying bacteria along with insecticidal treatment to control insect pests.
