Creating purposeful and strategic biodiversity enhancements

  • Enhance greenery and biodiversity across your site
  • Create spaces that inspire and educate
  • Make a positive impact on local ecosystems and communities

Are you aware of your business's current environmental impact?

Every business leaves its mark on the natural world. Without proactive biodiversity strategies, commercial properties can become lifeless spaces that contribute to the decline of local species and the degradation of natural habitats.

By prioritising intentional, strategic biodiversity improvements, we help ensure your biodiversity projects make a genuine environmental impact, rather than serving as mere formalities. Our proactive, measurable approach delivers lasting benefits for both nature and people. By aligning your properties with standards like the Wildlife Trust’s Biodiversity Benchmark and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), we create a long-term commitment to sustainability across your business.

Create thriving ecosystems that benefit both your business and the environment

At Nurture Group, we help businesses transform their spaces into vibrant ecosystems. By working with nature instead of against it.

Our biodiversity solutions align with your goals and are tailored to suit your site’s unique landscape needs:

Biodiversity surveysBiodiversity Surveys & Action Plans

Why are surveys needed?

Creating purposeful, positive, and proportionate change in the landscapes we manage is now essential. With the 2024 introduction of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), we’re legally required to ensure that the environment is measurably improved after any development or work. Surveys play a crucial role in assessing sites to support this change. They provide insight into habitat potential, optimal plant choices, and simple biodiversity improvements. This process fosters collaboration between us and our clients, building a strong framework to achieve meaningful, lasting environmental benefits.

What type of sureys are available with Nurture?

BAR - Biodiversity Assessment Report: Our BAR’s are conducted by the Nurture inhouse Biodiversity specialist team and provide a purposeful and easy to follow guide on how to improve the overall standard of Environmental standards onsite, they are generally used for non-static sites where the client has expressed a desire to improve Biodiversity.

BAP, Biodiversity Action Plan: These comprehensive and detailed reports involve a series of desktop surveys, followed by a minimum of 4 site surveys by one of our Biodiversity team. They provide a long term and holistic plan of measuring, recording and analysing sustainable and biodiverse practices, these surveys provide a structured and targeted approach to deliver consistent improvements to last for 5 years.

There are a number of other survey types we can support you with. We have partnered with a specialist network of ecologists, botanist and surveyors across the UK to enable us to meet any requirements you may have. From habitat surveys to protected specisi surveys, our team will survey your sites looking at all the ways we can bring added value to your workplace.

Following the site survey, we can define targets and goals, including achieving accreditations, joining relevant organisations, and improving your company’s carbon footprint.

Habitat Solutions

Habitat creation is essential for creating biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance. By designing and restoring habitats, we create vital spaces for diverse plant and animal life, enhancing ecosystem resilience and supporting biodiversity across your sites.

Nurture offers a unique range of habitats, including carefully crafted in-house solutions using sustainably sourced, FSC-certified materials. Many of our materials are also repurposed from our Grounds Maintenance and Arboriculture operations, aligning with our waste management goals and minimising carbon impact through UK-based sourcing.

Tailored to your space, our habitats support thriving ecosystems, encourage wildlife diversity, help control pests, and promote natural pollination:

Green Architecture
Living walls, green roofs, and natural installations improve air quality, insulate spaces, and add aesthetic appeal, promoting both environmental harmony and energy savings.

Cleaner air - Interior green walls can dramatically improve air humidity and air quality inside of a building. Plants absorb toxins (Volatile Organic Compounds VOC’s) through their leaves and their growing medium and emit oxygen for us to breathe. They help to rid the air of toxins produced by common office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones and carpet fibres.

Energy efficiencies - Living walls create their own mini micro-climate around them as they absorb heat, reducing the amount of air conditioning necessary, and thus reducing the cost incurred through use of climate altering equipment. Green roofs ensures roof surfaces are 30-40% cooler and reduces heat flux from roof to building by up to 72%.

Insulation properties - Plants absorb, diffract and reflect sound waves so that noise is reduced, producing a calmer and more productive working environment and making them ideal for screening off specific areas.
