Nurture Landscapes and Gavin Jones celebrate triple success with BALI Award Winner announcements

We are thrilled to announce that Nurture Landscapes and Gavin Jones have secured victories in three prestigious categories at the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) Awards. These awards recognise excellence in landscape design, installation, and maintenance across the UK, and our recent achievements showcase the passion and expertise of our colleagues.

"We are immensely proud of our teams for their outstanding achievements with this year's BALI Awards. Their commitment to excellence and innovation, especially in challenging environments, is what sets us apart. I'm incredibly grateful for their passion in creating healthy, beautiful spaces that make a lasting impact on communities." — Gareth Kirkwood, CEO of the Nurture Group.

Grounds Maintenance (Limited Public Access) - Nurture Landscapes for Stockley Park

We are proud to have been recognised for our outstanding work at Stockley Park, where our commitment to biodiversity and sustainability has driven exceptional results. Holding the Wildlife Trust’s Biodiversity Benchmark, our efforts include creating diverse habitats such as wildflower meadows, bee banks, reed beds, and micro forests. Installing numerous bird boxes, bat boxes, and hedgehog houses while partnering with conservation organizations like the Bumblebee Trust and BugLife Trust.

Over the last three years, we have planted more than 4,600 plants, 4,000 bulbs, and 40 trees, transforming Stockley Park into a thriving ecosystem. Despite challenges like poor soil structure and aging infrastructure, we have maintained high standards and continuous improvements, ensuring that Stockley Park remains a model of environmental stewardship.

Special thanks to: Bogdan Balut (Contracts Manager), Stephen Packman (Regional Manager), Gavin Day (Regional Director), Steve Mason (Team Leader), Jim Doyle (Team Leader), and the amazing operatives on the ground – Ian Bruley, Harry Downes, Charlie Dawns, Leon Messi, Roger Graham, Steve Young, Alice Wilson, Michael Wilms, Caroline Whenman, Joe Smith, Reece Saunders and Ian Hendrick.

Interior Landscape – Maintenance - Nurture Landscapes for First Sentier Investors

In the category of Interior Landscape Maintenance, we have been honoured for our work with First Sentier Investors (FSI). The project focused on enhancing FSI’s refurbished office space by creating an environment that fosters wellness and a connection to nature.

Collaborating with Anchorpoint to design a lush interior landscape, including a living wall and island planters, all planted in environmentally friendly hydroculture or vulkastrat /volcaponic medium. This innovative approach not only reduces maintenance costs and environmental impact but also enhances the office’s aesthetics.

Regular maintenance by our trained technicians ensures that the living wall and other plants remain healthy and vibrant, contributing to a workplace that prioritises employee well-being and sustainability.

Special thanks to: Robyn Fredenham (Key Account Manager - Plant Displays), Stuart Cochran (Installation Supervisor) and team, as well as Bob Capel (Consultant).

Regeneration Scheme - Under £500K - Gavin Jones for Monk Bridge (The Junction)

Gavin Jones has also been awarded for their exceptional work on the Monk Bridge regeneration project in Leeds. This project involved transforming the historic Monk Bridge viaduct, a Grade 2 listed structure, into an elevated urban park that integrates seamlessly with the new residential and commercial developments in the area.

Despite the challenges of working at an elevated site with limited access, we successfully implemented a soft landscaping scheme featuring 68 trees and over 40,000 shrubs. Our careful attention to detail and collaborative approach with Ares Landscape Architects and Galliford Try ensured that the project was completed on time and to the highest standards.

“The planting was a key component of the overall project and team from Gavin Jones bought into what we were trying to achieve with the design. The care they took and their attention to detail has been fundamental to the project success.” - Ares Landscape Architects

The new park has been warmly received by the local community, who appreciate the blend of historical preservation and modern landscaping.

Special thanks to: Ricky Whiteman (Head of Estimating North), Jonathan Windle (Regional Contracts Manager), Ben Hinchliffe (Foreman), Tim Smith, Jack Bradley, Mick Horton, David McAllister and Craig Stevens.

As we prepare for the upcoming BALI Awards ceremony, where we will contend for the Principal Award, our entire team is thrilled to be recognised for our hard work and dedication to excellence in landscaping. These awards reflect our commitment to delivering sustainable, high-quality solutions that enhance the environment and create beautiful, functional spaces for communities to enjoy.
