Nurture Group Clinches Pro Landscaper Sustainability Award for Stockley Park Maintenance Contract

Nurture Group has secured a coveted Pro Landscaper Sustainability Award for its maintenance contract work at Stockley Park. The announcement was made during the Pro Landscaper Sustainability Awards ceremony, where Nurture was recognised for its exemplary commitment to sustainability and biodiversity.

Stockley Park, the UK's oldest business park, holds a significant place in the country's commercial landscape. The park, officially opened by the Prince of Wales in 1986, has undergone a remarkable transformation from its origins as a gravel extraction site and landfill. Under the visionary leadership of Sir Stuart Lipton, it has now not only become a hub for business but also a champion for environmental sustainability.

Nurture Group’s management of Stockley Park aligns seamlessly with the park's commitment to sustainability and biodiversity. The collaborative efforts of the management team, ecologists, on-site personnel, and partnerships with wildlife organisations have played a crucial role in implementing and overseeing a comprehensive biodiversity and sustainability management system.

The sustainability achievements at Stockley Park are impressive, reflecting Nurture’s dedication to making a positive impact. Key statistics from the habitat creation initiative since the beginning of the maintenance contract include:

- An annual reduction of 750 litres of petrol

- A remarkable 99.6% recycling rate, with only 0.4% of 1.19 tonnes of general waste collected from the park sent to landfill per annum

- 100% processing and re-use of green waste within the park

- Allocation and seeding of 700m2 of wild meadow areas

- Installation of 4 bat boxes and 32 bird and Swift boxes

- Placement of 10 hedgehog houses

- Installation of 19 log piles and insect habitats, preserving dead wood in woodland

- Planting of 28 trees

- Installation of 6 section floating islands

- Planting of 2600 bulbs

In addition to the Stockley Park win, Nurture’s entry for the Chineham Business Park was also shortlisted, underscoring the company's dedication to sustainable practices across multiple projects. Demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, we've transitioned to eco-friendly battery-powered machinery, prioritising clean technologies in our operations at Chineham Business Park. Engaging closely with park occupants, Nurture facilitates regular workshops and nature walks, fostering community involvement in environmental initiatives. We have implemented solutions such as planting of over 3000 new bulbs, aiming to enhance the local environment, as well as installing various wildlife habitats, including bird boxes, bat boxes, hedgehog houses, and an aquatic wildlife pond, showcasing a strong dedication to wildlife preservation.

Nurture Group continues to set a high standard for sustainability in landscaping, serving as a leader in the industry and reinforcing the idea that landscaping can be a powerful force in sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
