History

Peter Fane, Executive Chairman, first opened the doors of Nurture for business with just three other members of the team on 1st April 2008.

The strategy was simple:

• Focus on landscape maintenance for the corporate and private sector to build long-term income streams and security;
• Offer best in class customer service delivered by permanent staff who invest time to understand our clients’ business;
• Champion care for the environment.

The team hit the phones and knocked on doors, using their extensive network of contacts built over the previous years.

Now Nurture has blossomed into a multi award winning national contractor.

The business has expanded through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions of family owned companies, widening its geographical footprint and service offering across the UK. With the addition of Gavin Jones Limited in 2018 and the additional acquisitions of Enterprise Plants and Grace Landscapes at the end of 2018; the purchase of Eco Landscapes, Dermita Plants, McDermott Contract Services and Jordan Plants in the latter half of 2019; Claphams Landscape, Rockside Estates and De-Ice in 2020, and more recently Indoor Garden Design, JBB Groundcare, GLM Services and more significantly Nurture Pest Control (previously Rokill Pest Control Services). 

Nurture Group now consists of four leading brands, Nurture Landscapes, Gavin Jones , Nurture Pest Control, and Gristwood and Toms all with an excellent reputation for quality and service excellence. The combined Group now have forecasted sales in excess of £115 million, directly employing over 2,600 colleagues and servicing in excess of 3,000 clients over 13,000 sites across the UK.

Nurture Landscapes - Nurture Landscapes specialise in grounds maintenance, winter gritting and interior and exterior plant display services, predominantly to the corporate sector. They have a national presence and capability that is delivered via talented directly employed local teams working out of 70 strategically placed depots across the UK.

Gavin Jones - Gavin Jones, celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2019, and are proud holders of the Royal Warrant to Her Majesty The Queen, they continue to trade under the name Gavin Jones as a wholly owned trading subsidiary of Nurture Landscapes Holdings Ltd.  They provide landscape construction services to a wide variety of clients across the UK, working alongside landscape architects, designers and main contractors. They also provide grounds maintenance services to military sites, public open spaces, the educational sector and royal parks and palaces.

Nurture Pest Control - provides pest solutions and prevention services to both commercial and domestic customers, and are of the UK’s leading pest control companies.

The incorporation of Gristwood & Toms into the group completes the quartet, providing 50 years of excellence in arboricultural services.

Nurture has come a long way since 2008, going from a four-person team to a national contractor. Clients benefit from receiving directly delivered services, through local teams, committed to providing a consistent high quality service with the benefits of drawing upon the skills and expertise across a National company. We combine the best of both worlds and have adhered to our founding principles.
